About
100% NZ Owned and Operated!
Simple Snowboarding was formed in 2007 by Sam Marcotte, a Kiwi who recognised the need to provide guidance, advice and coaching to the next generation of young snowboarders. Sam has spent over a decade coaching between the New Zealand and Canadian winters and as a result he has gained valuable insight into the Snowboarding industry. This, combined with his skills and unique coaching methods, have allowed him to develop one of the most successful coaching programs in the world.
During the 2010 New Zealand season Sam joined forces with New Zealander Colin Bartlett, an established Freestyle Coach who had worked with a number of kids on the New Zealand Development Team and Youth Olympic Team. Colin believes in the importance of a solid support system and how crucial it is to an athletes success – not only the coaching and mentoring but being surrounded by a good team and friends. By uniting under Simple Snowboarding, we have created an opportunity for our athletes to be exposed to greater diversity and opportunities while aspiring to already successful riders on the team.
What makes Simple Snowboarding NZ different to other snowboarding programs:
Simple NZ is bridging the gap between young riders from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. New Zealand riders can benefit from riding and training with other young international riders, allowing them the benefits and pathways to travel and compete on the world stage. Riders from the Northern Hemisphere will now have a home base during the Southern winter where they can ride and live with their Kiwi team mates, anywhere from 1 month to the full season.
“We have created a new opportunity for the youth of NZ snowboarding. We are providing a platform for them to ride, learn from and aspire to the success of their international peers. We have seen the likes of Jossi Wells and Shelly Gotlieb reach the world stage internationally. Our young athletes deserve to achieve this international recognition, and with the backing and support of their team, we can’t wait to see more New Zealanders join them on the international podiums.” – Colin Bartlett.
