February 23rd, 2011Keith Brouillette, Samm Denena and the Simple snowboarding team dominated the weekends podiums at the Horseshoe TTR AOS Halfpipe and the Fathom TTR AOS Rail Snow events last weekend. Keith and Samm both took back to back victories in both the open mens, womens and overall categories. Simple Snowboarding walked away with another 16 Podiums (9 at Horseshoe, 7 at Craigleith) after a solid weekend of competition.

Simple's Keith Brouillette raises his Nitro Snowboard at the top of the men's podium for the second day running, Simple's Jono Skelton at left in 5th, Mike Rotsaert at Far Right in 4th
The Fathom Rail Snow saw a solid turn out and a beautiful, if somewhat cold day. The complete opposite of the windy and snowy conditions at Horseshoe the day before. The competition format was a new one that ended up evolving into a morning Rail Jam on the upper two features, finishing with a Big Air on the bottom jumps. Michael Rotsaert, Mikey Ciccarelli, Tyler Nicholson,Tim Crighton, Jono Skelton, Coulton Conway and Samm Denena all laid down a barrage of tech tricks but it was Keith Brouillette’s 180 press, change up press spin out that took the top spot in the Jam. Little Riley Dillon and Becca Ballantyne took to the rail section and pushed themselves on the set-up, with Riley attempting some extremely difficult switch 50-50 gap switch boardslides!
Keith followed his rail jam performance up with some super smooth underflip 7′s on the last jump during the big air. Mikey Ciccarelli took a heavy slam onto his eye during the big air, but followed it up with a super smooth big backside 720 later in the event. Tim Crighton worked hard for some frontside 720s but came up short with two heavy slams into the knuckle after Jono Skelton stomped a couple of corked front sevens. Michael Rotsaert deserved an honorable mention for his super big-super smooth backside rodeo over the big air jump along with his frontside 720 tail grabs. Samm Denena easily took home another win in the Womens event, a couple of rail hits and a backside 3 saw her walk away with yet another win and another paycheque! It was a super fun event with more prizes than I have ever seen at any slopestyle! Thank’s to Mike Kitchener, Tim Hutchison and Dave Debono at Fathom and all of the sponsors for making it such a great event!
